also called for patience in establishing a bullet-proof charging infrastructure.

Lack of charging stations is currently the biggest impediment to electric adoption.

Most people take a significant break (30 minutes or so) to replenish themselves on long trips. The problem is finding a place to do this while also recharging the EV. There are some EV restaurants but not nearly enough to be practical on long trips.

Alternative approach --- build specialized, cheap, short range EVs focused on local use. Most driving is short, local trips. Most households with a vehicle have more than one.

This offers opportunity for specialization --- one vehicle for local driving, another for long distance. The auto industry in the US is focused on maximizing profit per car and thus tends toward pricey all purpose vehicles.

i think in some countries residents can make their own charging station public (and earn some money with it). This should be probed in more countries.

I don't think there is any law prohibiting this in the USA.

But this does not overcome the chicken and egg problem. Before residents will invest the time and money to build a charging station, there must be sufficient incentive for them to do so.

Without more EVs, people won't build charging stations. Without more charging stations, people won't buy more EVs.

Spectacular how a supposed industry expert article completely ignores the 1000w charging capability about to roll out in China. 5 min charging is already a thing.

      I think you meant 1000kW.

        Yes indeed. Sorry

          Or 1MW.

Though many people might be confused by that.

I think this could convince many gasoline-powered car supporters, but what about the price? Probably only a few will be able to afford it.
