AI systems can generate and communicate information, but as the authors point out it is somewhat different from humans communicating with each other.

Kind of an "internet of things" consisting of robots talking to other robots, and occasionally to humans. The fact that the dialogue (currently at least) resembles human-generated information makes it interpretable but uncanny since it is only indirectly related to human experience.
