Spotify also killed SpoTube for several months until thery were able to find an alternate source for music metadata (https://github.com/KRTirtho/spotube/commit/43ddf90c48b0c5c34...)

They seem to be more litigious than peers like Youtube and TikTok.

How come they were pressed by Spotify and SpotX hasn't been (that we know of)? It makes no sense.

It appears they have forgotten their origins. They began with downloading pirated music. What a group of A-holes. If they intend to enforce the law, they should first hold themselves accountable by paying for all the pirated music they initially downloaded. A bunch of hypocrites.

    ...so sick of Spotify.

But it's hard to justify not putting my music on it. Sure, I can direct people to Bit Torrent, IPFS, and Bandcamp first, but understandably some people want to stream instead of download, and some people are already deep in the playlist and discovery mechanics of Spotify.

I wish I were able to forego the paltry royalty payments from streaming in exchange for my songs just having premium features even if listeners aren't on paid plans.

I would also add that it is the easiest and best way for me to find new musicians relevant to my tastes. I literally don't know how else I would find new bands and songs to listen to. YouTube certainly doesn't cut it (although I don't use YT Music, so I dunno).

So it is for the unlock premium patch, described as "Unlocks Spotify Premium features. Server-sided features like downloading songs are still locked."
