    Wow that’s opaque. Full text:

    > OpenAI and Microsoft have signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the next phase of our partnership. We are actively working to finalize contractual terms in a definitive agreement. Together, we remain focused on delivering the best AI tools for everyone, grounded in our shared commitment to safety.

The most interesting thing about this statement is probably the fact that they felt it was neccesary to make such a statement.

Right? Very much a vibe of, "Your mother and I wanted to let you know that we'll be talking about our relationship soon. But we want you to know that we'll always love you."

I don't know what that means, but also was that ever a concern I should have had before?

Here is the same statement posted on Microsoft's website: https://blogs.microsoft.com/blog/2025/09/11/a-joint-statemen...

Not completely the same. On OpenAI‘s site it begins with "OpenAI and Microsoft" and on Microsoft‘s with "Microsoft and OpenAI" :)

A proof by example that equality does not imply identity.

          > A proof by example that equality does not imply identity.

In this case, is the opposite.

Hmm? Semantically they are equivalent ("this is the same statement"), bytewise they are not identical ("not completely the same"). Both parent comments are true statements. Things can be in the same equivalence class without being identical. What am I missing?

They are going to couples counseling.

What’s the point of making the statement? Avoiding legal or regulatory consequences for anti competitiveness or for the exploitation of tax free growth as a nonprofit?
  • I asked the chatgpt box at the bottom of the screen for additional details, and I think it was lying to me.

  • Is this some kind of investor-pressured reaction to the supposed Oracle deal? Not sure the exact nature of things but would think some ppl were getting some calls yesterday.

    TLDR?

Microsoft has tentatively agreed to invest $100B+ into OpenAI's corporate arm. There is not yet a firm, binding agreement. OpenAI says it will remain a nonprofit + public benefit corporation and describes itself as a "philanthropic organization." They're soliciting applications for a $50M pool of grants for things like AI education and "community innovation."

        Still a infomess :>

Looks like OpenAI dropped Azure in favor of Oracle but MS still invests B's $ ?

And OpenAI is a "non-profit" so Oracle strait get 75% or more of OpenAI fees ?

All that strange bilions just like in ad tech... Why manager pay so much bilions ?? It must be managers, who else it can be ? Except govs ofc :)
