In MBA speak, Google is in the cash cow phase of their business. They are milking their existing businesses for all its worth. They do not see any avenue to upsell their existing customers to new products. It's all downhill to oblivion from here.

There's so many nice usable bits of hardware out there for video doorbells. Ezviz, Amcrest, Aqara, Reolink.

There's Frigate, which is incredible for webcams. Amazing. But I don't think it deals with the bell itself. But I suspect many have a separate chime unit that would at least work ok, of you aren't trying to also bring and bodge Home-Assistant or whatnot into the mix too.

That's a 33% increase (1/3 of 150 is 50).

It's expensive to generate all that LLM slop, and since it's a loss leader, someone else gotta pay for it.

So is it possible to replace it with another service that does the same thing?
