Various css files for retro-theming. Each of these have been discussed here previously.

      > We have approved a series of musical releases for our employees to listen to while working. Far better than the standard music available on Spotify, we have found that listening to “Whispers from the Water Cooler” and other corporate approved releases can increase productivity of employees by up to 20%.

      > For middle-managers, we have not found this same result and have therefore have limited their listening to the only song that had any positive effect, “I’m Not Cute, I’m Handsome”, an earlier release from CORP.

I love it. You made my day, thanks.

Judging by the incredibly smooth video streaming, something makes me think this isn't Windows 98 at all — but rather BeOS with a Windows theme applied. Bravo!

Very cool but the back button is very buggy.
    • asynchronousx4 days ago
It pushed to the browser history too much, so the back button is basically navigating in place
      • echoangle4 days ago
I think the problem isn’t really pushing the browser history, but for me the windows don’t get reopened when navigating back. So from the desktop, I open 3 windows after each other but when going back, I get 3 times the Emory desktop. When directly opening the 3 steps from the history, it works though. On safari on iOS.

Thanks for finding this! I bet this is because I was getting a bit fancy manually setting the urls and it probably messes with the state of the open windows.

Will have a look after dinner.

cute!! i love it. especially the recycle bin functionality.

one little note i have is the native scrollbar in the Music 'window' - i didn't realize there was more underneath the Spotify and Apple Music links at first.

Thank you! And UX feedback noted and added to the docket!

I'm a little bit of a music nerd and I really like 925. Love that vibe and the video too!

Very nice! Would be very cool to also add some apps, like Winamp and ICQ, or AIM :)

I was hoping for some kind of easter egg if you drag the music into the trash.

This is a really cool retro desktop UI! The aesthetic is spot on.

One thought: when clicking the 'CORP' button, instead of the browser's default alert() (or confirm() based on the text), it might enhance the immersion even more if it triggered a custom pop-up styled like a classic Start Menu. That menu could then house the links like 'Official Band Website', 'GitHub', etc. It would fit perfectly with the overall theme.

Just an idea! Love the project.

As someone who has made a lot of websites for bands in my early days as a programmer, kudos. This is unique, original, and fun. Good job!

Might want to fix the link to your Youtube channel...

Merch mentions .mp3 which is weird.

Mailing list has no way to sign up but no indication that anything broke.

    • jealousgelatin4 days ago
Interesting, works on my end but I'll admit its slightly weird.

It should automatically make a POST to mailchimp and and open a new page showing your successful email list subscription.

I'd be curious what is happening in your network tab or if the navigation to the mailchimp success page is disabled somehow.

Let me know your browser and system anyway, would be much appreciated! Thanks for looking nonetheless!

I don't even see the form on my phone. I suspect I'm just blocking Mailchimp outright. On desktop I see the form.

bug report for you: clock in lower right corner fails to update the minute when a new minute begins on the "host" system

    you're welcome :)

Lots of small things to pick on. Doesn't matter. This is really cool.

I've tried to build a mockup for a retro/"fantasy" OS; some details that you'd think are easy or obvious turn out to be time sinks once you try to perfect them.

    • jealousgelatin4 days ago
Added to the growing bug report list :) Thanks for checking it out!

Nice website and good music, thanks for sharing! I'm very happy that people still contribute to post-punk.

Wait, just checked again and it worked. Might have been on my end.

It's missing Napster, Winamp, and Age of Empires.

Double-clicking desktop icons is broken: the site is so fast the first click opens a window, and the second click registers inside the open window. This is probably a race condition.

I wasn't deliberately looking for bugs - I just subconsciously defaulted to double-clicking when I saw the UI.
