I've been regularly using em-dashes in my writing for most of my life -- including this sentence. Now I'm thinking, despite the plea of this article, that I should stop doing that. I absolutely don't want my writing to resemble the output of LLMs.
funny enough, i started noticing em dashes mostly through using GPT. wasn’t really part of my writing before, but now i find them super useful for managing rhythm and flow.
definitely earned their place — not because LLMs use them, but because they actually work.
