I can't see any reason why Google would send traffic anyones way in the future. "Search results" will turn into a "Citations" list at the bottom of the page for the excessively curious, and probably look like it does on a page like Wikipedia. Meanwhile 98 % of the "results" page will be AI-generated and ad-ridden. Ads will be inserted into the AI content as recommendations because why not?

Even when I use Google, I try to ignore their AI overviews.

Why: I remember just how miserably wrong (or misleading) it often is, on subjects which I know well.

Ironically the link immediately shows a dialog:

“By accepting, you agree to our updated Terms of Service, including the arbitration provision and class action waiver. You understand that we process your information as described in the Privacy Policy, which may include sharing information about your use of Bloomberg.com with third parties.”

Between those AI overviews from Google and the cookie banners mandated by the EU my willingness to click on a search result has reached zero.

The issue is not the banners, it's the hundreds of trackers those sites are using.

The banner are just here to remind you that the site is a dumpster fire.

Or are you also mad about warning signs on chemicals bottles?

        Which my browser promptly blocks.

        >Or are you also mad about warning signs on chemicals bottles

I’m not because I don’t have to click okay every time I use a bottle of bleach.
