My iPhone 16 Pro immediately started heating up the moment I opened the page. 11/10 working as designed!

Yes, I didn’t know my phone had a secret feature of becoming an instant hand warmer until I visited this website
  • maxfurman8 months ago
This is one of the stupidest, most amazing things I've seen in quite a while. I'm glad to see someone doing something silly just for fun and not just hustling.
  • knowknow8 months ago
This is the epitome of crappy website designs and I love it. The unnecessary gradients, nauseating movements, ambiguous buttons, and overall clutter really symbolizes Mr. worldwide’s shoddiness.
    • treetalker8 months ago
And leaving the upside down exclamation point off the "Dale!" — chef's kiss. So Miami.

Adding a "que bola!!!" somewhere would be the icing on the cake.

The pulsing title underline causing page shift is genius. It's a blinking marquee away from perfection.
      • bmicraft8 months ago
Helps that my phone renders the layout shifting at ~5fps

I will always respect him for doing the Alaska show.
      • smallpipe8 months ago
There was an online contest to vote for Pitbull to go perform at your local Walmart. The internet being what it is, he got sent to the most remote Walmart in the US, Kodiak Alaska. He did go and perform. What a top lad.
      • jayrot8 months ago
For real. I’m sure he got money or whatever but it does show a certain sense of humor/self awareness
        • jagermo8 months ago
I also have not yet heard that he is a sex criminal, despite his lyrics.

Looks great, though surely Mr Worldwide has sufficient wisdom to go around that we don't have to ration it to one quote a day!

I've seen Pitbull twice, it's always a great show. Lots of energy and plenty of nuggets of wisdom dispensed between songs, lol.

Seems more 80s/vaporwave to me than glassmorphism.

The music player isn't working for me, chrome is reporting the following:

Cookies with the SameSite=None; Secure and not Partitioned attributes that operate in cross-site contexts are third-party cookies. Chrome is moving towards a new experience that allows users to choose to browse without third-party cookies.

    • garyreckon8 months ago
i've removed the iframe now as it was causing more issues than benefitting a good , fun experience. i couldn't quite get it to work so will update the 80s vaporwave shortly with some music

      Same problem.

The "How to play" button being in the American Horror Story font really finishes the whole thing

    Peak weekend HN
  • pratik6618 months ago
All this needs is a song that starts immediately playing when this loads in your browser and you have a full nostalgia trip
    • garyreckon8 months ago
i built this but could not get to stream it properly so removed it before deployment. my local version plays a playlist when this loads in the browser and its a party
  • josu8 months ago
    This is horrible.
  • memhole8 months ago
I find the moving background nauseating lol. I like it though. Hope you enjoy the show!
  • pelagicAustral8 months ago
Nice one. I appreciate the humor. I t reminded me of an app I used to praise on my Nokia Lumia on Windows Phone, it was a simple Chael Sonnen wisdom app I could open anytime to get some quotes from the GOAT
  • ecocentrik8 months ago
Pitbull's personal philosophy strongly compliments the Musk, Andreessen, Thiel, Altman worldview. I imagine Musk's first Martian colony will outlaw all music except for Pitbull.
  • fastball8 months ago
Love the website but that Pitbull quote of the day is kinda... rapey
    • lazide8 months ago
On the plus side, pitbull seems like one of the few with no actual rape accusations. So that’s good?
  • n2dasun8 months ago
This is awesome, but also makes me want to fight you
  • kylehotchkiss8 months ago
I hope every second of the show delivers what you’ve been anticipating. 11/10 great work

    Who is Dale?
    • alehlopeh8 months ago
It’s Miami (read: Spanish) for “word” or “cheers”
      • adynaton8 months ago
It means " go" or "let's go"
        • alehlopeh8 months ago
Sure but what’s it used for. To finish a conversation.
          • _3u108 months ago
It’s both, it’s not just a Miami thing. I hear it all over Latin America. In both ways like dale dale Olimpia (go <team> go).

Me: I’ll have a burger. Waiter: dale.

I don’t hear it much in Argentina tho, but maybe I wasn’t listening for it.

            • CPLX8 months ago
Don't forget "vale" which I always think of as being Spain Spanish but you hear it all over the Spanish speaking world too. Which is like almost the same, but not the same.
    • treetalker8 months ago
You could translate the Spanish literally as "hit it". It's like saying "alright!"
      • ch4s38 months ago
I think “let’s gooooooo!” Is probably closer? Ish
        • CPLX8 months ago
If we are being literal literal it’s “give it” or “give (it to you)”
          • ch4s38 months ago
Right, but that obviously isn't how it should be translated in context.
            • CPLX8 months ago
It's pretty close. I always think of "send it" as a pretty close English equivalent phrase.
  • ks20488 months ago
I want to love/hate this, but when I click Dale, it says come back tomorrow (?)

I had my phone on my chest and breathing. Took me a minute to realize my breath matched the movement.
  • SanjayMehta8 months ago
I have no idea what’s going on here and from the comments it appears that this is by design.
  • pirbull8 months ago
The fact that this is in the lead up to a show outside the US makes this even better

  • kittikitti8 months ago
This app is revolutionary in the design. It's not campy but the next generation. It's an upgrade from AI slop, perhaps "AI camp"? Like, people asked an AI for a million features, it gave them slop, but during camp they all figured it out and made it to the front page!

I also like the "breathing". This is probably nauseating for most people but I sort of do this while scrolling so I have my finger ready to swipe in between the seconds I read through the screen.

    • Xen98 months ago
Now that you mentioned, "as highly conscious and self aware person", I observe the wave like up and down breathing effective, which I did not pay attention to while on the site, as a cost-effect. The interesting part is I am not always sure if I am actually waving from breathing, of if this is the illusion, and it was for half minute certainly both. This is the type of thing one remembers a decade afterwards.

I don't know if this is AI, it looks like it, but could well not be.

I believe this isn't "just fun" but having told the AI to not to make it work for meme effect on HN. Obviously AI could fix easily, including but not limited to the music itself.
